Dr Thomas Hopkins
Tom is a senior lecturer in speech and language therapy at Birmingham City University, teaching on areas of psychology and child development including language and literacy development. Tom’s background is in psychology having worked and studied in areas related to developmental and forensic psychology. This led to an interest in exploring the association between language, literacy behaviour. Tom has worked on funded research projects that have identified language and literacy difficulties in children and young people considered ‘at risk’, such as those in contact with the criminal justice system. His published research also involves examining interventions that support language and literacy abilities in children, young people and adults.
