Currently at De Montfort University (DMU), where she is Pro-Vice Chancellor Pedagogic Transformation, Interim Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law, and Professor of Education, Professor De Main has also held several leadership roles in commercial banking.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining Birmingham City University,” said Professor De Main, who begins her new job on 1 October.

“This role brings together so many things I’m passionate about - supporting students, empowering staff, and building meaningful connections with industry and community.

“I can’t wait to get started and be part of such a vibrant and forward-thinking University."

Professor De Main (pictured) is a Principal Fellow of Advance HE (PFHEA), a Peer Reviewer for the European Federation of Management Development (EFMD) accreditation, and serves on the QAA Advisory Group for Business and Management Benchmark Statements.

A member of the British Academy of Management (BAM), she has also held lecturing and leadership roles at Coventry University.

Professor Ian Blair, Pro-Vice Chancellor Academic, says he is looking forward to working with Professor De Main and BCU’s other “equally impressive deans”.

He added: “Business at BCU has always been held in strong regard within the region, so I am reassured we have appointed someone with an exceptionally strong track record of leading highly respected teams in higher education and the commercial sector.”

BCU’s new Business School, which launches on 1 August, will be formed of two departments: Management, Business and Marketing; and Accounting, Finance and Economics.
