Natalie Quinn-Walker is a public health professional with a strong background in LGBTQ+ sexual health, particularly within LGBTQ/MSM communities. Her work as a Sexual Health Specialist focused on investigating and responding to the sexual health needs of LGBTQ+ and MSM individuals, delivering tailored health promotion and behavioural change interventions across diverse community and clinical settings. Her commitment to sex-positive education is rooted in extensive frontline experience supporting sexual health within marginalised populations.

Natalie’s PhD research explores how male victims of domestic abuse are supported and whether their disclosures are believed by family members and friends. She is also the author of the book chapter “Diversity and Welfare Provision – Tension and Discrimination in 21st Century Britain,” which examines the experiences of male domestic abuse victims within healthcare settings. This work reflects her broader commitment to challenging dominant social narratives around gender, abuse, and help-seeking, and to addressing inequality within health and welfare systems.

An active contributor to academic and professional forums, Natalie has presented her research widely at national and international conferences. These include the 4th International Gender Studies Conference in Leeds, where she addressed professional audiences on awareness and support for male victims of domestic abuse; the UK Domestic Violence and Health Research Forum in London As well as the European Conference on Domestic Violence in Norway, Iceland, Spain, the UK Domestic Violence and Health Research Forum, and the Social Policy Association Postgraduate as well as contributing to interprofessional masterclasses on substance misuse and public health. Her topics have spanned emergency services’ knowledge of male domestic abuse, public health responses to violence, and pandemic-era impacts on victims.

She has also delivered presentations at the Division of Clinical Psychology Annual Conference, the Foundation Year Network Annual Conference, Natalie is currently a Senior Public Health Lecturer at Birmingham City University, where she leads the Research Methods and Violence in Society modules. Her teaching and research focus on sexual health, gender, inequality, and social justice, with a strong emphasis on amplifying marginalised voices and challenging stigma within health and social care systems.
