Graduation dates and registration
Your graduation ceremony is a momentous occasion, marking both the completion of your studies and the beginning of your next chapter, whether you’re starting your career or continuing your academic journey. Our Winter Graduation ceremonies will take place from Wednesday 7th January to Friday 9th January 2026 , at the prestigious Symphony Hall in Birmingham City Centre.
Invitations and Registering Your Attendance
Invites will be sent via email week commencing Monday 29th September 2025 to all eligible students who have completed or are expected to complete their course and have their award confirmed by an exam board no later than Friday 21st November 2025.
To secure your graduate seat at our ceremonies, you must register your attendance via the Registration task on MySRS by the deadline outlined in your invitation email. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email.
IMPORTANT: If you do not receive your confirmation email within 48 hours, contact the Student Lifecycle teamvia the Online Support tab, to ensure your registration processed correctly.
Reserve your seat early! We strongly advise registering before your award is confirmed, as registration may close early if a ceremony reaches full capacity.
Withdrawals and Deferrals
- If your award is not confirmed by Friday 21st November 2025 to the Student Lifecycle Team, your place will be withdrawn and you will be notified via email.
- If you have any outstanding academic-related debt, your place will also be withdrawn. However, if you achieve your award after the exam board cut off date or settle any outstanding debt, you will be invited to a future ceremony.
Deferring Your Ceremony
If you cannot attend your assigned ceremony and wish to defer to a future one, you can do so through the Registration task when you receive your invitation.
Please Note: Graduates may only defer their place once.

Cancellations
If Birmingham City University’s graduation ceremonies are cancelled, delayed, hindered or postponed due to circumstances beyond the University’s control (including but not limited to: fire, explosion, terrorism, crisis situations, pandemic, industrial action, or venue-related issues), the University will not be liable for any direct or indirect losses incurred by students or their guests.
Graduands and guests should ensure they have sufficient insurance protection to cover any potential losses in the event of a postponement or cancellation.
The University will strive to provide up-to-date information via its website and regular communications with students.
