Daisy Rentong Zhao was born in 2001 in Qiqihar, China where she started playing the piano at the age of six. She has performed concerts in Beijing, Shanghai, Harbin and Qiqihar.
She began to study on the BMus (Hons) undergraduate piano performance course at RBC in 2020 and is currently studying for the MMus postgraduate piano performance course at RBC. She is studying with Associated Head of Keyboard Daniel Browell and Robert Markham.
During her time at the Conservatoire, she has taken part in numerous competitions. She was the finalist in the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Piano prize (2025) Donohoe Gold Medal Piano Prize (2024), Renna Kellaway Piano Prize (2024), Beryl Chempin Beethoven Prize (2023) and the Denis Matthews Piano Prize 2022 (Highly Commended).
Sam, Seth, Ed and Dan are four trombonists who met at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where they’re all currently in their final year. Two years (and many curry nights) later, they’re still playing together - and still arguing over who gets the easiest part.
The group enjoys playing a variety of repertoire: from classical and contemporary works to jazz and film music and are proud finalists of the 2025 Bernard Brown Brass Ensemble competition.
Audiences can expect rich harmonies, plenty of slide action, and perhaps a joke or two slipped in along the way.
Known for their trademark checkered shirts, the quartet aims to bring fun and personality to their performances - proving that four trombones can be every bit as entertaining as a full band (and sometimes louder).
Running time approx 55 minutes
